Already on December 6th the two siblings "Jakob vom Belauer See" (Jeppe) and "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" (Zelda) with their auntie Jule "Deb's Cortina" joined their last RO trial at GHSV Rantzau, Germany under judge Elke Gehrmann.

Zelda and Jeppe started in Class 2. Zelda was 5th with 90 points. Jeppe reached 97 points and was 2nd!

Jule was 9th in Class 3. I always admire the starters in Class 3. They have so many things to show. Just great!

Congratulations to all three teams: Svenja Hansen with Jeppe, Sebastian Feilke with Zelda and Svenja Arendt with Jule.

The last few weeks have been really busy. So I am a bit behind with updates.

Many things have happened and there is a bit to report about the offspring "vom Belauer See".

What is the most important story to report?

Well, I guess to me the most important story is the move of our little "Prince Arthur" to another country.

I had a lot of hope for this litter. Unfortunately there was only one puppy. It took me a long time to decide who he should move to after the first door had closed. Arthur was kind of an important puppy to me and he was very special. A couple weeks ago Arthur moved to the North of England and I am very pleased about this.

Arthur, now called McGregor, lives now with Charles and Jill Holgate at Kennel Nadavin. He is co-owned in partnership with Kennel Nadavin by myself. I am sure that McGregor has now the perfect home. I am already looking forward to my first visit of him...

Already August 18th and 19th "Ludwig vom Belauer See" (Calvdale Night Court x Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See), aka Gimli, was shown at the International Show in Innsbruck, Austria.

The first day he won the CACA and the Res. CACIB. The second day he even won the CACIB, was Best Male and BOS!

Meanwhile "Ludwig vom Belauer See" got x-rayed. His hip score is B1. Gonio is clear and eyes are also clear. He will get his own web page very soon.

Big congratulations to this great success!

His litter sister "Luise vom Belauer See" has been very successful at a field trial with her owner Ulrike Petry.

They won the so called "VPS", a master trial, near Cologne in Germany on October 5th and 6th. Luise has been the only Spaniel at the trial and is the first Spaniel which has ever won this trial!

Big congratulations, Ulrike and Luise!

Not all dogs "vom Belauer See" are Show dogs, hunting dogs or dogs who do dog sports. Many are living a happy life with their families.

Recently I received a nice photo of Charly during his hiking vacation in the East of Germany with his family. Charly is from our K-litter (Astrospring's Phoenix x Ilse vom Belauer See).

During the last few weeks other dogs have started at a number of Rally Obedience trials. Others have been not successful at Dummy trials and a hunting trial. That's life!

One nice success had Svenja Hansen with Jeppe "Jakob vom Belauer See" (Sanque's Dreamchaser x Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See) at Rally Obedience State Trial 2018. They were placed 3rd in RO Class 2 in Luebeck, Germany, under judge Pamela Toske.

Well done!

24.09.2018

Today our Clarkyboy "Wild Boy Hunter's Clark"

(Whisborne Latin Lover x Wild Boar Hunter's Brongwyn) left us.

Clark was quite a character! When he was young, he was not always an easy dog. I guess he was not the typical English Springer Spaniel. But with age this changed. Unfortunately he was never a very healthy dog. There was always something. Little things, nothing too severe.

Clark loved to be outside and run in the woods. His most favored was to go down to the lake and swim. Water was his element! When he was young I trained him for hunting. But we were not really successful. When Clark enjoyed something he could get so much into it, that he reacted really hyper. In his later years he had the role of being the "big uncle" to our young dogs. He was really patient with the youngsters.

Today we needed to say "Good bye" to him. He left us on his own terms this morning.

Good by, Clarkyboy, we will miss you dearly!

01./02. September 2018

This weekend I have been with my "Noble Alice vom Belauer See" to the Triple Shows in Hasmark, Denmark.

Saturday there were two Shows, "the Gold Cup". On Sunday there was the "Jubilaeumsvinder 2018" Show. The Dansk Spaniel Klub celebrated its 85th anniversary.

Judges were Mrs. Jenny Miller, United Kingdom, Ms. Jana Janekova, Slovakia and Mr. Moray Armstrong, United Kingdom. All three are very well known Spaniel Specialists with a high reputation. They took turns in judging the breeds and judging the groups at "Best in Show".

I am more than pleased about the results of Alice. It has been a fabulous weekend. Alice received from all three judges excellent critiques. She was awarded at all three Shows the Danish Junior CAC and the Danish CAC and BOB.

In the finals there was a very high competition. On Saturday BIS was selected from both shows. The competition has been very high and many highly respected breeders and handlers were showing.

Saturday Alice won "Best in Show Junior" under Mrs. Jenny Miller, UK. What a great result! There were more than 20 really good juniors in the ring. How rarely is a Field Spaniel selected in the finals!

But that was not the end that day. Under Mr. Moray Armstrong Alice was awarded "Best in Show 3". I have been very, very happy about this.

The following day Alice repeated this result and won under Ms. Jana Janekova "Best in Show Junior". Again such a success!

But not enough, Alice won again "Best in Show 3" under Mrs. Jenny Miller with only 11 months.

Beside all of this Alice qualified herself at this weekend for four Winner- and Champion Titles. Alice is now Jubilaeum Junior Klub Vinder 2018, Juliaeum Klub Vinder 2018, Danish Junior Champion (Club) and Danish Junior Champion (DKK); the last one to be confirmed by the Danish Kennel Club.

Mrs. Miller found very nice words in an article she wrote about the Show weekend in Denmark later "... I think the 3 of us were quite blown away by a single very stunning young breed type Field Spaniel bitch over from Germany who has some UK breed lines, shown to perfection in super coat condition she won Best Junior in show and on the final day was 3rd BiS behind two much older dogs..."

So far I have only reported about the great results of Alice. But there were some more lovely results for our Kennel. Svenja Arendt and "Okka vom Belauer See" (Heather), which is co-owned, gave their Show debut. Heather was shown at both Shows on Saturday in Baby Class. She got under judges Mrs. Jenny Miller and Ms. Jana Janekova "very promising 2". Well done!

Jule "Deb's Cortina" started in Veteran Class and got under Mrs. Jenny Miller "excellent 2" and under Ms. Jana Janekova "excellent 3". Jule had a surgery a few weeks ago and had not grown her hair back. Her feathers looked because of this incomplete which destroyed the overall picture a bit.

Congratulations, Svenja, Heather and Jule to those lovely results!

The Shows in Hasmark were well organized, lots of lovely details were thought of by the Show team around Michael Hammerich. There were lots of ribbons and prizes for the winners! Many thanks to the Show team for two wonderful days! 2019 is already booked!

Following a few photos who will give you an impression on the Shows! Many thanks to Kirsten Griese, Hans Peter Brohus and Heidi Lauritzen for contributing photos. There are also a few taken by myself.

25.08.2018

There are a few news to report about "Ludwig vom Belauer See" (Gimli). Beside being trained as hunting dog, he has started a very promising show career.

The weekend 29th and 30th of June he has been shown at the National Dog Show and International Dog Show in Hannover.

First day the judge was G. Tesics, the second day G. Schäfer. Both days he won his class with "Excellent 1" and got CAC-VDH. Both days he was second best male and got the CAC-Club Res. and CACIB-Res.!

Best male was both days "Art Wave's Pop A Top Again" who will be father of our Q-litter. He won Saturday and Sunday even Group 8!

At the weekend August 18th and 19th Gimli was shown for the first time in another country at the International Shows in Innsbruck, Austria.

First day the judge was Mag. Heliane Maissen-Jarisch, Austria. Gimli won his class and got the CACA and was second best male with CACIB-Res.

The following day Gimli was able to improve this result. Under Wim Wellens, Netherlands, he won again his class, got the CACA and was Best Male with CACIB and BOS! Well done, congratulations!

11.08.2018

We are back from the World Dog Show in Amsterdam. What a day!

Alice gave her Show debut at the World Dog Show at the age of 10 1/2 months as there was not really a good opportunity to show her before.

Despite her age and the really big show Alice did a great job and showed her socks off.

Under the judge Dr. Ümit Özkanal (TR) Alice was awarded the title "Junior World Winner 2018". She also got 2 CACs (NL) and went in the final competion BOS! What a great success! We are so happy!

Together with Field Spaniel owners from the UK, Sweden and Holland we had a nice get together ringside. Following there are some photos from the Show, many thanks to Ron Crow that I am allowed to publish them on my website!

Our "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See", aka Lotta, has been mated by "Art Wave's Pop A Top Again". We hope for puppies middle of September. Please read more at Q-litter.

The date for the mating has been perfect. Because of this I made my way to the Club Show of the Springer Klubben. I am since a number of years member of the Springer Klubben but have not visited a Club Show so far. It has been really nice. I have written an article about the Club Show. It is in German. In case you may want to read it, you will find it in the section "Zu Wort gemeldet".

After a little longer break we have been again to a Show in Germany. June 3rd we went to the International Show in Neumünster.

There were three "Belauer See" dogs entered.

Little Maggie from Denmark, "Malwine vom Belauer See" (Dowiti's Ice Age x Ilse vom Belauer See) was show in Junior Class. She got "Excellent 2".

I showed myself "Ilse vom Belauer See" (Trebron Finow x Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See) in Open Class. She got "Excellent 3" with a really nice report.

"Ludwig vom Belauer See" (Calvdale Night Court x Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See) was also shown in Junior Class which he won with "Excellent 1" and J-CAC-VDH and J-CAC-Club. He was also Best Junior of the English Springer Spaniels at this show.

Congratulations, also to the very nice presentation!

I am very glad that this year again a Spaniel "vom Belauer See" joined the German Bundessieger Trial in Rally Obedience.

Last year "Jolanthe vom Belauer See", mother of our current O-litter, was successful. This year her litter brother "Jakob vom Belauer See" started and gained 87/100 Points. From 60 teams he was placed 27th.

Congratulations, well done!

Already more than a month ago I have been again to the UK to North Yorkshire and Lancashire.

This time I went to get my Field Spaniel "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" mated at Kennel Nadavin.

Beside a car accident everything went really well.

I had decided for a multiple mating by Ewtor Mac Ewan At Nadavin and Nadavin Rothesey. Now we hope for a nice litter middle of June.

In case you would like to see more photos of this brilliant trip to beautiful regions of England please have a look at the News page in German. You find it here.

20.04.2018

The puppies of our M-litter have grown and meanwhile their owners start to show them and work them. Today I have some really nice results to report.

On April 7th, 2018 "Malwine vom Belauer See" (Dowiti's Ice Age x Ilse vom Belauer See), aka Maggie, has been shown in Denmark at an Open Show of the Spaniel Klubben under judge Pia Elmelund in Junior Class. She received "Excellent 2", handled by Hans Peter Brohus, Kennel Clumbus.

Only a week later litter brother "Maximilian vom Belauer See", aka Mads was shown under judge Axel Komorowski at a Special Breed Show in Wischhafen, Germany with "Excellent 2". Mads gave his debut handled by Svenja Arendt.

Svenja showed also her Jule "Deb's Cortina" who had on this day her 8th birthday. She was shown for the first time in Veteran Class and got the 1st place with the CAC-VET-VDH and CAC-VET-Club.

Congratulations to all owners and handlers for those nice results!

Another really great success had the very same day "Mathilde The Witch vom Belauer See", aka Mathilda with her master Gerry Schöps at a Field Trial for pointing dogs.

Mathilda got at the VerbandsJugendPrüfung (Junior Field Trial) of the Spinone Italiano Club Germany 70 points and was placed 2nd. The dog which was placed 1st had the same score but was a little bit younger. Mathilda got even the full points in "Pointing". A great result.

I don't know how many English Springer Spaniels have passed such a trial. Congratulations, you have done very well!

31.03.2018

On the 17th of March three Teams made their way from Schleswig-Holstein to Brandenburg near Berlin to compete with other Spaniels at a Dummy Trial.

"Jakob vom Belauer See" (Sanque's Dreamchaser x Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See", aka Jeppe, was placed second in Class 1 with 76 Points. He had the same amount of Points like the dog which was placed first. But that one was a little younger.

His Cocker-Buddy "Festus" was placed 7th with 50 Points. Congratulations to both Teams!

"Deb's Cortina", aka Jule, wasn't lucky that day. Although she worked really good she could not pass... Next time again!

Many thanks to Svenja Hansen and Dirk Heuschkel for the photos, who also hold the Copyrights.

04.-12.03.2018

Our co-owned "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" aka. Zelda is supposed to have puppies this year. At least this is our plan since quite a while!

Zelda is one of the three stars at the horizon of Svenja and Sebastian. Now they would like to add a fourth star and keep a bitch puppy from Zelda's litter. Because of this many options of Sires of this litter were discussed. In the end the choice was a male of Kennel Calvdale in England. I met this boy 1 1/2 years ago when I visited the Kennel.

Now I would like to write a short story about this trip. Luckily everything went really well this time. We had other journeys before!

We started our trip with two cars and five dogs on Sunday, took the ferry from Calais and had a good nights rest near Canterbury just a few miles north of Dover. In the afternoon we had made our way towards the Clumber Park. A sign near the motorway shows that it is not very far from the motorway. Already on my last trip I wanted to pay the park a visit. Now it was time to do so! We took a nice walk with the dogs before we continued our ride up North.

In the afternoon I arrived at my accomodation. I had rented again a cottage in the South of the North York Moors in Ampleforth, close to Hemsley and Thirsk. I stayed there at my last visit, so it was a bit like coming home.

The following morning we had appointment with Nicola Calvert at Kennel Calvdale.

Will Svenja and Sebastian like the male? They had seen him only on photos and knew the pedigree. And most important; Will Zelda like him?

Well, I was very lucky, all of them liked "Calvdale Keelman"! We are hoping now for puppies around May 7th, 2018. You will find more information about the upcoming litter under O-litter.

We have been very lucky and the purpose of our journey was fulfilled immediately. We all could relax!

After that I used the afternoon to prepare already my next breeding plans. I took the opportunity and visited Jill and Charles Holgate, Field Spaniel Kennel "Nadavin". They live in an old farmhouse, beautifully situated at the southern edge of the North York Dales on a hill. The view into the wide dale was marvellous.

It was a really nice afternoon together with my friendly hosts Jill and Charles. Many thanks for your time! I really appreciate it.

When I am traveling I usually take the opportunity to visit other breeders. That helps me to get a good overview about the breeds.

The following day I went together with Svenja and Sebastian on a trip to the North York Dales. As I have been there before I was able to show them some beautiful spots.

Following a few more photos of this incredible beautiful landscape...

After Zelda was mated a second time on Thursday morning I have a few more days before I had to go home.

This time the two Field Spaniel ladys "Sandscape Golden Girl At Belauer See" aka Dorothy and "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" aka Vicky were traveling with me.

Thursday and Friday I made two trips to the Moors. As I have been staying in the South of the Moors it was not too far away.

This year I am very happy that I was lucky to get a few shots of grouse. And you are actually able to identify them!

In case you remember the story about my trip 1 1/2 years ago to North Yorkshire you may remember that I enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful signs of many Pubs, Hotels and sometimes shops in England. This year I have been able to take photos of a few more signs. Here is my selection...

One evening I visited the famous and ancient city of York. Although it was later in the evening and all shops were closed there was a hustle and bustle downtown. York is worthwhile a visit!

Vicky and Dorothy in the North York Moors, Photo: Ulf F. Baumann

When you are traveling and you really like a place time usually flies by. And it has been this week as well.

During my stay in North Yorkshire the famous Crufts started this year in Birmingham. A MUST for every breeder, especially of breeders whose breeds originate in Great Britain! This year the Gundog Day was on Sunday.

As I didn't want to get up too early Sunday morning I had booked a hotel room near Birmingham. Saturday morning I started my trip to Birmingham. On my way down there I visited the Peak District. Before I will show you some photos I took there I would like to show you some more from ....along my way. I think they are also beautiful.

My ride through the Peak District was also very nice. The scenery is not as rough as in the North. As it is closer to bigger cities there were a lot more tourists around. I took a walk around the lovely village Edale. Unfortunately the weather turned into a very rainy day. The dogs and I were totally wet in the end.

Photos: Ulf F. Baumann

The following day I visited the Gundog Day at Crufts. It has been again a nice visit.

To me as breeder this Show is very important. It is possible to see lots of dogs compared to other Shows. I personally like to see so many dogs bred in the country of origin. A good place to search for interesting Stud dogs. This year I wanted to see some dogs I had read about. I have not been disappointed and think I have seen one or the other I might use in future.

It is also a great place for networking. This year I bumped into a Field Spaniel breeder from Australia I met last Spring in North Carolina at the Nationals of the Field Spaniel Society of America. The world became really small because of those events and thanks to Facebook!

I was really pleased that the grandmother of our princesses from the Noble-litter "Reedmace Sweetbriar Floss For Elgert" won the breed of Crufts 2018! Congratulations to Gretel Osborn from Kennel "Elgert".

Also the grandfather of our princesses won Crufts even twice. Maybe this is a good sign for my "Noble Alice vom Belauer See". Who knows. Maybe one day I get the opportunity to show her at Crufts. Well, even if I don't get the opportunity to show her there, I certainly will return and visit Crufts again!

13.01.2018

After several weeks with rain and lots of mud everywhere last weekend has been some sunshine and frost! A good opportunity for a photo shooting with our princesses.

Meanwhile they are 4 1/2 months old and very lifely pups. They enjoyed the time out and especially the Dummys. They loved to search and fetch them.

You will find some more news and information about our Noble-litter here. I will close the website of this litter now and will continue to report about them here under "News". Alice will pretty soon get her own little website.

I hope you will enjoy the results of our last photo shooting!

Happy New Year!

We wish all our puppy buyers and friends a great 2018 and hopefully we will see again this year!
