I have to report a number of things after my travels to Yorkshire.

"Jakob vom Belauer See" has been successful at two Rally Obedience competitions.

October 1st he started in Kiel-Friedrichsort under judge Monika Brzoska in RO Beginner with 90/100 Points. A day later he started in in Heide with 87/100 Points under Daniela Juhasz. Congratulations!

On December 12th "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" has been shown for the first time in Intermediate Class und Ricky Lochs-Romans at the International Show in Dortmund, Germany. She won her first CAC-VDH to the German Champion title with a superb report.

Two days later she was shown at the Bundessieger Show in Dortmund. Unfortunately she has not been as successful as her mother 4 years ago. Her mother was crowned "Bundessieger 2012" and BOB with only 18 months.

Jolanthe aka Zelda got this time "Excellent 2" and her next ticket towards the German Champion. We are very happy about this result!  Congratulations, Zelda, Svenja and Sebastian!

Last but not least Zelda passed with "very good"  Dummy Trial A for Retrievers on October 9th of the German Retriever Club. She was placed 7 out of 17 Starters! Well done, Zelda and Sebastian!

11./12.10.2016

I have been travelling with our "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" a number of days to North Yorkshire.

Lotta has been mated by Thorn "Calvdale Night Court". We are hoping for puppies around December 12th.

You will find more infos at L-litter.

Within the next few days I will write more about my travels.

We are very glad, together with Svenja and Sebastian!

"Jolanthe vom Belauer See", called Zelda, has been approved for breeding by judge Ms. Vanessa Malkmus under the German Breeding Sheme of the Jagdspaniel-Klub.

03.09.2016

Today there was a Dummy Trial held in our area by the Jagdspaniel-Klub.

From our team three dogs joined the trial. The trial has been judged by the qualified judge Anja Helber from the Retriever Club here in Germany.

Svenja Arendt started with "Deb's Cortina" in Open Class. Unfortunately Jule was not able to pass the trial, although she had a high amount of points.

Out of 11 teams only 6 dogs could pass the trial.

Luckily two of our dogs passed and were the two best the day! Number one was "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" with Sebastian Feilke. They started in "Beginner" and passed with "very good".

Second was our Vicky "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" and myself. We started also in "Beginner" and received "good" as result. I think with this result Vicky is the very first Field Spaniel passing in Germany a Dummy Trial.

Thank you to Svenja and Rüdiger and their Team for a really well organized Dummy Trial!

The Copyright of the following photos has Dirk Heuschkel, Berlin. Many thanks, that you allowed me to use the photos!

I am very happy to announce another success of our small "Belauer See" Show Team:

"Deb's Cortina", our Jule, which we imported from Gotland can call herself now Dutch Champion. Well done, Svenja and Jule!

This weekend our successful team Svenja & Sebastian were drawn to travel North with their dogs Jule & Zelda to neighboring Denmark.

The Scandinavian countries have in many ways a different system  in the dogs world than here in Germany. For example they have realized what chances a dogs sport like Rally Obedience offers for the breeds. The Norsk Spaniel Klub crowns every year the best "Rally Obedience Spaniel". I think many Spaniel owners will be encouraged by those kind of titels to show their dogs more often.

On Sunday Svenja and Sebastian started in Vamdrup with both dogs in "Begynder Klasse" under judge Mrs. Pia Hansen-Schwartz (DK).

Svenja got with Jule 95 Points and the 3. Pind for the title "Rally Begynder Mester (RBM)".

Sebastian reached with young Zelda at their first start in Denmark 85 Points and the "1. Pind" towards the title. Congratulations, well done!

As a breeder I take a lot of joy and pride in the successes of the offspring from my Kennel and I am really happy together with the owners.

Today I can write about some successes from the J-litter.

"Jakob vom Belauer See" has been shown successfully a number of times by his owner and handler Svenja Hansen in Youth Class.

Jakob has, who is called Jeppe, is now "German Youth Champion (Klub)". Congratulations, well done!

Jeppe doesn't mind Shows, but he loves a lot better Mantrailing! He passed his first Mantrailing Test successfully. Well done, Svenja and Jeppe!

The litter sister of Jakob, our co-owned "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" (Zelda) has been awarded two Youth Champion titles.

After she fulfilled the requirements she got now from the VDH (German Kennel Club) the title "German Youth Champion (VDH)" and from the Jagdspaniel-Klub the title "German Youth Champion (Klub)".

We are very happy with you, Svenja and Sebastian! Congratulations!

27.07.2016

Today I have several good news to announce:

First of all I would like to tell about that, what seems to me as a breeder most important - health! Our Youngster "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" has been x-rayed a few weeks ago. Now we have the result: She has A2 hips! We are very happy about this result, together with Svenja and Sebastian.

Then there was this weekend the Club Show of the Jagdspaniel-Klub in Alsfeld. The Kennel "vom Belauer See" was this time represented by the two Svenjas.

On Saturday there was a Special Breed Show. "Jakob vom Belauer See" won Youth Class with "Excellent 1" and got Y-CAC (VDH) and Y-CAC (Klub). In addition to that he also got the title "Hessen-Youth Winner". Congratulations!

Jule "Deb's Cortina" won at the same time the Novice Class at a Dummy Test with 75 of 100 Points. The Dummy Test qualified together with the Club Show the following day for the "Work & Show Competition" that weekend.

Sunday at the Club Show "Jakob vom Belauer See" got in Youth Class "Excellent 2" with Res. Y-CAC (VDH) and Res. Y-CAC (Klub).

"Deb's Cortina" started in a strong Champion Class on Sunday and got "Excellent 3". Our Youngster "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" started also that day in Youth Class. In a strong Class her reward was this time "Excellent 3".

Many thanks to the two Svenjas for representing our Kennel so well at this years Club Show!

Also this weekend the litter brother of Jakob and Jolante "Jonathan vom Belauer See", who is called Jonas, had a special date! He was groomed by Nadin Neumann and made look really good. I am very pleased that the owners of Jonathan live very close to Mrs. Neumann and now a good groomer for him. Mr. & Mrs. Neumann put Jonas after the grooming into action, you can see the results here (Photos F. & N. Neumann).

Today I thought I won't post anything on the dogs!

Beginning of July I took my camera to look for nice motives in the garden and around the house. Today I updated the section "Life at Belauer See" with the outcome. You will also get a climpse inside the house...

We are really proud of our youngster!

With only 15 months "Jolanthe vom Belauer See", also called affectionately "Super-Zelda" by her fans, was placed 2 nd out of 20 Starters with 95/100 Points at her first Rally Obedience Competition at HSV Heiligenhafen.

She has done a really good Job together with Sebastian Feilke. Congratulations, very well done!

Following you can see their start on a Video taped by Svenja Arendt.

Today I have been watering the plants and checked the nest of the wag tails. It is empty.

I took this photo four days ago. They were still there. But it doesn't look like all six made it...

03.07.2016

Yesterday we had again a Special Training day with our Dummy-Group "Holsteinische Schweiz":

As last year we had the very experienced Dummy Trainier Petra Lockhoff as a guest trainer. Petra Lockhoff breeds together with her husband Marcus Golden Retriever under the prefix "Tingledales".

A visit of her Website is worthwhile as she is still breeding Golden Retrievers with color!

Petra gave the newcomers in Dummywork as well as the more advanced valuable hints for their training. We all had a lot of fun and there were lots of laughter.

The ones who know our training group will expect that we also had nice food! Everyone contributed to a wonderful picnic. Following are some photos of our training (Copyright Ulf F. Baumann).

During the day there were more and more clouds at the sky. Some brought rain, but luckily not all.

But there was one cloud which brought some real bad gust with it. This cloud brought some whirl in the true sense of meaning but also a lot of laughter!

The tent of Svenja and Sebastian was just taken up in the air and blown away! They had to run after their tent to catch it. It took them quite a while to bring it back...

I have to admit, that I was personally more concerned to have some good shots of the scene than about the tent... Thank you, Rüdiger, that you made so many nice photos with my camera today!

Meanwhile the little wagtails are born. They are already a few days old as I could hear them begging for food when I had cracked the window.

Today I have been watering the plants. So I took the opportunity to count the baby birds and take a photo.

I wonder how many of those six will survive in the end?

25.06.2016

Only a few days have passed and there are again many good news to share of our Spaniels "vom Belauer See". Beside myself a few puppy buyers have also been active with their dogs. But let me share the stories one after another.

Today I started with "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" at the Rally Obedience Tournament in Gross Grönau, Germany. I started with Lotta in Class 1 and we got under judge Frank Nielsen 82 Points and a "very good". As a newcomer to "RO" I turned into the wrong direction once and didn't see that Lotta was starting to sit although she was supposed to go immediately into "Down". Well, I guess we can do better! Next time...

Svenja Arendt started today with "Deb's Cortina" already in Class 2. With an almost perfect walk she won the Class with 99 Points! Well done and congratulations, Svenja!

A few days ago we got the news that our co-owned "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" (Zelda) has been awarded the title "German Youth Champion (VDH)" by the German Kennel Club.

Together with the Co-owner Sebastian Feilke we are very happy about this! And we are very grateful towards Svenja Arendt for her lovely handling of Zelda at Shows!

Those days we also received good news about the litter brother "Jakob vom Belauer See" (Jeppe). He had been x-rayed a few weeks ago and we got the result: Jeppe has "B1" hips.

"Jolanthe vom Belauer See" is "BOS" at International Show in Uden, Netherlands, Photo: Sebastian Feilke
"Jolanthe vom Belauer See" is "BOS" at International Show in Uden, Netherlands, Photo: Sebastian Feilke

The weekend 18./19.06.2016 has been a Show weekend for our kennel.

On Saturday "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" won under the honorable judge and Spaniel Specialist Mrs. Ricky Lochs-Romans her class at the International Show in Uden, Netherlands, was "Best Youth" and "BOS" and got the CAC-NL! Because of her age she could not win the CACIB.

What a nice success! It is also her first ticket towards the Dutch Champion title.

"Deb's Cortina" could not win this day the CAC-NL, what has been hoped for. But she won the Champion-Class and got the CACIB.

The very same day another International Show took place in Erfurt Germany. At this Show Jolanthes litter brother "Jakob vom Belauer See" (Jeppe) won Youth Class with "very good 1" under the German judge Mrs. Christiane Lohmann. Congratulations to the owner!

"Deb's Cortina" wins both days CACIB in Netherlands, Photo: Sebastian Feilke

The following day Jakob was unfortunately sick. He had a cough developed during the night. So the owner thought it is wiser to travel home that day and not show him and probably infect other dogs.

In the Netherlands Jolanthe was not entered that day, therefore Jule (Deb's Cortina) was the only one to enter the ring...

And she did well! Under the judge Mrs. T. Urek (Slovenia) Jule won Champion Class, got the CAC-NL and the CACIB and was BOS! The trip to the Netherlands was worthwhile. Jule won her last ticket towards the Dutch Champion title. Congratulations!

About two weeks ago we had very nice visitors from Vienna. "Imke vom Belauer See" (Yola) visited with her owners. They were not able to attend our 30th anniversary Party. It was very nice to see them again.

Yola is still trained in Dummy work and for hunting. She has also been shown once in a while with more or less success at Shows. Sometimes she got "very good" and once in a while "excellent". Recently she got in working class an "excellent 2" at a Show in Austria. Unfortunately I have not asked for more details. Her owner loves to work with her and show her. I really enjoy as a breeder to hear from "our puppies", especially when they have such good homes.

Although we have no puppies at the moment it seems that mothers expecting children love our puppy room!

When I have been watering the flowers at the window of our puppy room I saw that a wagtail had built its nest.

I am looking forward to the little birds!

For my 30th anniversary as a breeder I asked the guests of our party to contribute to my next project "professional grooming table".

Now, I have been able to get an electric grooming table. I am very pleased with it! It makes grooming a lot more easier.

Our girls were - more or less happy - today for the first time on the table. Just for the photo! I groomed this week a few other dogs on the new table. Ours will be done next week...

21.05.2016

We had a number of reasons to celebrate a Party in May!

My 30th anniversary as a breeder is certainly the most interesting to mention at this place.

Around 60 friends, neighbors and dogs people with about 25-30 Spaniels of different breeds came to celebrate with us in Belau. We felt very honoured that  so many guests followed our invitation and many of them travelled actually very far.

Contacts were made easily, new friendships started and old were renewed. It is as a host always a pitty that there is never enough time to talk to each guest. The dogs had lots of fun and it was all very friendly and peaceful.

We will Keep this day as a treasure in our memories and also would like to thank at this place for the many nice presents!

This has been as well the first meeting of offspring of kennel "vom Belauer See". We will try to establish such a gathering on an annual basis.

We hope you all enjoyed the Party as much as we did and are looking forward to your next visit here at Belauer See!

Today we got a really nice, a bit belated birthday present, directly handed over by the Chairman of the Show commission of the Jagdspaniel-Klub:

"Jolanthe vom Belauer See" has been awarded the title "German Youth Champion (Klub).

What a joy, not only for us but especially for Sebastian! Our gratitude goes especially to Svenja Arendt, who handles Jolanthe so well!

On the weekend of the 15th and 16th of May the National and International Show in Saarbrücken, Germany took place.

The first day our co-owned "Jolanthe vom Belauer See", called Zelda, was handled for the first time by the co-owner Sebastian Feilke himself. Both did a great job!

Under the honorable judge L. Mach, Switzerland, they won the Youth Class and were Best Yunior of the English Springer Spaniels. Jolanthe received also the title "Saarbrücken Youth Winner 2016". Congratulations, well done!

She also received the title "VDH-Saar Youth Winner Saarbrücken 2016".

Congratulations to Zelda, Svenja and Sebastian!! You have done a great job! We are proud of you!

14.05.2016

This year I celebrate a very special anniversary - 30 years ago 1986 my first litter of Dachshunds was born! The date of birth was April 11th, 1986.

In the past 30 years many things have happened. As dramatically as the world has changed the last 30 years also the world of dog breeding has changed. Who thought 30 years ago about the internet, a breeders homepage or even Facebook? Today News in the dogs scene are spreading like fire through the internet. Often we here within minutes who won a Show or a Field Trial. Today there are for some breeds very good databases with pedigrees and information on many dogs. A very valuable tool for a breeder. How much time took it to add generations to a pedigree to find out about the blood lines of a single dog!

One thing hasn't changed for me in the last 30 years: I still like to form my own opinion about the dogs I use for breeding as well as the offspring of my kennel. Nothing can substitute to touch yourself a dog, view him when moving and most important get to know the dog in "real life".

30 years ago I started to breed whirehaired Standard Dachshunds under the kennel name "vom Kaufunger Wald". If you like to read more about why I have changed my kennel name to "vom Belauer See" and a bit about my kennel and the last 30 years, you can find more in the sections "About myself" and "About the kennel".

Next weekend we will celebrate the 30 th anniversary as a dog breeder (besides other reasons to celebrate!) with friends mainly from the Spaniel scene.

On time to the anniversary our Field Spaniel "Multi Champion Multi Winner Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" has been awarded the title "Champion International d' Exposition" by the F.C.I. We are very happy that Vicky got her 16th title now. We are very glad that we got this special dog!

Today our co-owned "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" (Zelda) won at the International Show in Lingen, Germany, under the honorable judge Vibe Boregaard-Madsen (Kennel Siegers) Youth Class and went in the finals Best Youth of the English Springer Spaniels. With the Youth-CACs she won today, she is now qualified for the title "German Youth Champion (Club)".

Congratulations to Sebastian and Svenja. Svenja, you did again a brilliant Job!

Today Lotta "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" turned 5 years old. How time flies! I am so glad that Inger Handegard from Norway gave this beautiful, eager and pleasing bitch to me. Thank you!

Her daughter "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" sent Birthday wishes via Facebook.

I am planning a litter with Lotta this fall/winter. If you are interested in a puppy from Lotta please don't hesitate to get in touch. In due time you will find Information on the litter plans here

Another successful weekend for our  dogs!

Svenja and Sebastian have been on the road again. At the International Show in Groningen, Netherlands, wins "Jolanthe vom Belauer See" (Zelda) Junior Class and gets the Res.-CAC-NL. She is also Best Junior under honorable Judge Gerard Mensink, Netherlands. According to Svenja it was very tight. But to her greatest joy the CAC-NL won "Deb's Cortina" (Jule). She also got the CACIB and went BOS. Jule is now another step closer to the Dutch Championtitle.

Meanwhile I received confirmation that I have been accepted as Member of the "Field Spaniel Society Of America".

As you can see on the start side of my Website I am currently member of six Spaniel Breed Clubs worldwide. I personally think that it is very essential to work internationally together for the benefits of our breeds. This applies even more to the rarer breeds e.g. the Field Spaniel.

In those days you can find many Information online; nevertheless I think it is important to have the personal exchange. Some infos you get only through Newsletters or Member magazines of the Clubs.

The English Springer Spaniels are also a breed which is not that common in Germany. To only concentrate on the breeding stock in Germany would be fatal.

I am very happy about the Membership in the Field Spaniel Society Of America and hope I will be able to intensify the connections one day and that my breeding program one day will benefit from it.

Our puppies of the K-litter are doing well. We are looking forward to the next few days when they will start to open their eyes. You will find news on the litter here.

The winter 2015/2016 has not been really nice. There was hardly any snow; we had rather lots of rain and bad weather.

This morning the sun was out and it was still a bit frosty. Nice weather to take out the camera. I went with Lotta and my camera to take some shots around our house.

You can see some of the results in the section "Life at Belauer See" on this website.

Today we have attended with our small Show Team the Special Breed Show of the Spaniel Club Germany in Hamburg.

There was a good entrance. 37 English Springer Spaniels were entered. The competition under honorable judge Jens Karlsson from Sweden (Kennel Art-Waves) was very high.

"Jakob vom Belauer See" was for the first time at a Show his handler. He is just 10 months and he has been shown today for the first time by his handler. There were 5 males in Youth Class and only one got excellent. Jakob got "very good". It has been a good start for him and his handler. Well done!

In a strong Champion Class with 6 entries I showed myself our "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See". She did really well and got "Excellent 2". Lotta loves to enter the Show ring once in a while.

My greatest pleasure was today my with Sebastian Feilke co-owned bitch "Jolanthe vom Belauer See". She has been handled by Svenja Arendt. Jolanthe competed in Youth Class. There were 6 bitches and Jolanthe won the class with her 10 months, "excellent 1" and got her first Youth-CACs for the German Youth Champion titles. We are very happy about this result!

06.02.2016

This week we have heard quite a bit from the puppies of our last litter.

On Saturday Joseph, now called Fletcher, has been visiting from the South West of Germany. He has grown into a nice, young male. He is not exaggerated in any sense and has a really nice temperament. Obviously he likes to play with his owners but has also learnt already a lot.

As a breeder it is always very exciting to see the pups again when they have grown. Have they developed according to what I expected as a breeder? And is the outcome of the combination the way I hoped? It is always a joy to meet again as many offspring as possible and it is very pleasing to see them growing into what has been hoped for!

After a couple hours and some practical advise for grooming Fletcher left us again, hopefully to see him back in May!

To our great joy we hear also frequently from little Josepha, called Josie, who lives now in Zurich, Switzerland.

Last week we received the good news that she has passed her first training course for young dogs. In Switzerland it is required that all owners pass together with their dogs such a course. We heard that the trainer has been very pleased with the progress Josie made during the course.

Josie has been registered now into a training course for Man Trailing. We will see if her owners and Josie will enjoy this sport!

Josie loves to cuddle. She is still holding on to the little rabbit she took to her new home when she left Belau. The other photo shows her with her best friend, the English Cocker Spaniel "Cano".

This week we had another visitor from the J-litter. Johannes, called Hopkins, visited us for a new hair-do. He has also grown into a pleasing young male with a nice temperament.

A few days ago we received from friends in Berlin a parcel with homemade cookies for our girls and homemade Sweet Potato Chips for Clark, which he loves dearly. In this parcel was also a "Thank you" note with this nice photo.

This year there is Party time in Belau because of several events which justify a bigger celebration. One of those reasons is that I will celebrate my 30th anniversary as breeder this year! Certainly something to look back and celebrate! In due time I will certainly write a bit more about it.

Finally winter arrived in Northern Germany - to the pleasure of our dogs and to my great joy. It is very nice to walk in winter during the woods and the dogs just love to play around. A nice side effect is, that the dogs won't get dirty!

Ilse is becoming a Mama in about 5 weeks time. She still enjoys long walks with all the others in the group.

Our Field Spaniel Vicky loves especially the snow. She loves to run and jump around and take a bath in the snow! It a lot of fun to watch them play around.

Lotta - our soon to be grandmother - enjoys also winter time. It is kind of funny that she will be our granny in a few weeks. Well, with dogs it is different! She is certainly not a granny taking her age into account. That has to wait a few more years!

With a few photos of the beginning dawn we ended our nice walk in the woods.

Today I received also  a photo of 9 months old "Jakob vom Belauer See". He is called Jeppe by his owner.

Recently he has been to our place for grooming. He has grown into a nice youngster. He is very well behaved. His owner is training really well, she takes everyday to work, trains with him Dummy-Work and foundations in Obedience. I really pleased how he is developing.

Yesterday I received a new trainings video of Jolanthe vom Belauer See, called Zelda. With her 9 months she has developed really well. During training she is very serious and concentrated and does already a brilliant job. Her master Sebastian is also doing a great job. Zelda is his first dog! I am very happy that I have Zelda in co-ownership and that we made this decision.

Her half-sister Ilse vom Belauer See is due with puppies end of February. I hope her offspring will be as good as little Zelda!

"Astrospring's Phoenix" the (hopefully) father to be of our K-litter has been shown at one of the biggest Shows in Sweden, "My Dogs" in Gothenburg. Both days he has been very successful in a strong Open Class. He won both days. Under the honorable judge Anne Livo Buvik from Sweden he got the second day the RCC and was placed 4th in the finals of the males. Big congratulations to the breeder, owner and handler Ann Lundin! Well done!

How time flies! 9 years ago our little "Mausebär" (Mousebear) Clark was born. As the weather was really bad to take a good photo I searched for a puppy photo of him. Unfortunately they seem all to be on a broken lap top. But I found that one when he was around one year old. Still with clear eyes. They are not as clear anylonger...he is getting older. But other than that he is still a happy camper!

Shortly before Christmas we got also the 13th and 14th Champion- or Winnertitle of Vicky "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" approved. Vicky is now also Danish and Swedish Champion! I am still waiting on the swedish Diploma but we got at least the letter of confirmation.

Shortly before Christmas our English Springer Spaniel "Ilse vom Belauer See" got into her season. On December 21st I started my journey to Sweden to Kennel "Astrospring's" to get her mated by "SE VCH Astrospring's Phoenix". You will Information about the litter which will hopefully be born around  February 23rd under "K-litter".

Unfortunately two days before I started to Sweden someone broke into my car and stole all my papers, Credit and Banking Cards including Ilses passport. Luckily my Vet issued for Ilse a new passport on Sunday so that I was able to start travelling on Monday around noon, after I had taken care of some errands because of the theft.

After I moved into the Cabin at Ullared campground in the Swedish Province Halland I visited Ilses bridegroom. Ullared is a small town which has a huge Shopping Center called "Gekas Ullared". I suppose most people living in this town will work at this Shopping Center and the surrounding Outlets.

Ann Lundin, breeder of the Kennel "Astrospring's" welcomed me with a traditional dinner for Christmas. During my stay I got to know quite a number of traditional Swedish Christmas dishes. All were very tasty and delicious! Ann and I were sitting together for hours talking about English Springer Spaniels and the so called "Spaniel World"... Thank you, Ann, for your and your families kind hospitality!

Luckily Ilse was quite happy with my choice of her bridegroom. There were several matings. I hope she will not disappoint us and will have puppies in due time.

During my stay I got to know Ann Lundins family and also all her dogs at Kennel "Astrospring's". I was also able to do a bit of shopping at "Gekas Ullared" and take a few walks with Ilse in the swedish woods.

After another successful mating on December 24th I started my return trip around noon. Unfortunately there was another interruption on my way home. A doe thought she wanted to get to know my car a little closer. I am glad there was not a big damage! I arrived safe and sound at home on Christmas Eve.

We wish all our puppy buyers and friends at home and abroad a happy New Year and hope to see you again in 2016!
