An eventful year is coming to an end...

With our dogs we are looking back on a quite successful year. They gained many titles at Shows, one bitch from the I-litter was very successful at a hunting test and last but not least we had a very nice litter of English Springer Spaniels. The puppies are now 8 months old and we hear and see lots of good things - they are working really great and our youngest co-owned bitch "Jolanthe" has been already successful at Shows, even internationally. From the owners of our "choclate drops" of the last litter "Jonathan" we got this nice figure from the "Erzgebirge". We are very happy about this nice present and I think it suits the previous Dachshund breeder.

Unfortunately there are some people, which are obviously very envious and begruding. They do everything to try to make someones life miserable. But in Germany we have a saying: "Who laughs in the end, laughs best!". Next year I will celebrate the 30th anniversary as breeder. Despite of many adversities I have not changed my goals as a breeder and I will certainly continue that way in future.

Tomorrow I will start with my "Ilse vom Belauer See" on a trip to Sweden. She will be hopefully mated by a very interesting male. When I will be back after a successful trip I will write more about the combination. You will find then the info under "Planned litters".

Just in case the thieves who broke into my car yesterday and stole different things read this and may think that this is a good opportunity to steal more: The house is not left alone! So forget it to steal more!

We wish all puppy buyers, friends and acquaintances here in Germany and abroad a Merry Christmas!

Today I have been with "Ilse vom Belauer See" to the Vet to get her eyes tested. Everything is fine, including Gonio! Now we are waiting on her season...

06.11.2015 - 08.11.2015

This fall I visited Poland again. I went with my Field Spaniel "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" to two International Shows in Poznan.

On Saturday, November 7th, Vicky gained under the judge Ms. Mariya Gvozdeva, Ukraine, the Polish CAC and CACIB and went BOS. The following day Vicky went at the Polish Winner Show under judge Ms. Renata Niklasiewicz again BOS, got the Polish CAC and CACIB. She also got the title "Poland Winner 2015" and the Crufts Qualification. We are very happy about another success of our Field Spaniel bitch.

It has been a joy to show Vicky in Poland. The Show ground is incredible convenient, great parking Situation, huge and well prepared rings and lots of space for the handlers beside the rings. I think it will be not my last time that I showed a dog in Poland.

Only one week after her mother Lotta showed, that she loves to work, daughter "Imke vom Belauer See", called Yola, won with her handler Hanna in Ernsthofen, Austria, an advanced hunting test of the Österreichischer Jagdspaniel-Klub. She got 158 Points and a 1st Prize! Congratulations, Hanna and Yola!

This shows that English Springer Spaniel are truely "Dual Purpose"! We are very happy and proud of you two!

Today I have started for the first time at a Rally Obedience competition with my English Springer Spaniel "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See".

Lotta was quite successful. Out of 28 starters in Beginner Class we were placed 5th with "Excellent" and 96/100 Points. A good start in this new sport for us!

16.10. - 16.10.2015

From October 16th until October 18th I flew to Birmingham to attend the Field Spaniel Open Show of the Field Spaniel Society UK in Worcester.

My Intention was to meet the breeders of this rare breed in the UK and to see as many Field Spaniels as possible to deepen my knowledge about the breed.

I have met many Field Spaniel enthusiasts, had many good conversations and have been able to see a great number of good Fields. I think the trip was worthwhile!

The Hotel "Chateau Impney", located approx. 40 KM South of Birmingham, was my home during this short stay in the UK. It is a very enjoyable Hotel located in a big park not too far from Worcester.

Today I got a Video from the proud owner of Zelda (Jolanthe vom Belauer See) about her first small Show steps at the Show in Hamburg.

Isn't it for a breeder the best thing to know that the puppies have been placed in really good and loving hands? (Video: Sebastian Feilke)

Today we have been with our small Show Team to the Special Breed Show of the Spaniel Club Deutschland e.V. in Hamburg.

Und der honorable Breed Specialist Stig Arne Kjellevold from Norway, Kennel Westaway, our "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" finally went Best in Show. What a great surprise and joy!

Winning the CAC-VDH and CAC Vicky fulfilled today also the requirements for German Champion (VDH), German Champion (Klub), Danish Champion and Swedish Champion.

But also the rest of our small Show Team has been successful.

"Jolanthe vom Belauer See" (Owner Sebastian Feilke & Ulf F. Baumann), called Zelda, was shown in Baby Class for the first time. Zelda started her Show career with "very promising 1", lovingly presented by Svenja Arendt.

"Deb's Cortina", now owned by Svenja Arendt, got in a very strong Champion Class "Excellent 2". Last but not least "Ilse vom Belauer See", starting with just over 24 months for the first time in Open Class got "Excellent 2".

We have been very happy about the results, especially as the judge Stig Arne Kjellevold is himself a very successfull English Springer Spaniel breeder and has from my point of view a really good eye. He is not only a breed specialist but knows also the Field Spaniels really well! He has been judging many times in the past Fields and has also judged a large number of Field Spaniels at the Field Specialen of the Field Klubben, Sweden, in 2013. As a breeder I appreciate his judgement very much!

A big thank you goes also to the Show Team around Karin Leiker and Felix Ackermann from the Spaniel Club Deutschland for a well organized Show!

The puppies from our last litter, J-litter, are growing. We have seen already quite a few again after they moved out. Just last weekend we got a visit from Jakob, who is called Jeppe. He is developing really well and is a nice and relaxed young gentleman.

Today I got a video from our Jolanthe vom Belauer See, called Zelda. The video shows her beginnings in Dummy training. I hope you will enjoy! Thank you, Sebastian for the video!

Occasionally I am visiting with my dogs Shows and they enjoy them. But about 99 % of their "leisure time" our dogs spend with me in the boonies or doing training. And as the pictures from todays  walk proof they enjoy it a lot.

As a Forest - Engineer my eyes wander during a walk in the forest naturally also to the trees above.

When I was studying forestry in the late 80ies and early 90ies "sour rain" was a big subject. There were many discussions about it and awareness was raised. What is left of this? Who talks about it those days?

This year I traveled from July 30th until August 3rd to the Field Specialen in Askersund of the Field Klubben, Sweden. It has been a pleasure to be there and meet so many other breeders and friends of the Field Spaniels.

A visit of the Field Specialen is certainly also worthwhile for judges of the Spaniel breeds. It is not that often that so many Field Spaniels of good quality are shown at one Show.

If you like to read more about the Field Specialen 2015 you can find an article (in German) about this Show here.

Unfortunately our Field Spaniel "Vicky" is not expecting puppies this year. The long trip to Poland has not been successful. We are planning to mate her again next year. You will find Information on the planned litter in due time.

This beautiful photo of our Vicky has been sent to me by Ewa Ostapzuk, taken in Lublin early July this year.

Isn't Vicky an eye catcher?

I am back home after a long "Mating-journey" to the East of Poland. I have been to the city of Lublin to mate my Field Spaniel "Vicky" to "Winterbourne Norwegian Wood", who is called Woody. We are hoping now for puppies around August, 31st, 2015.

Poland is worth a journey! Not only because of the friendly and very hospitable people, but also because of its beautiful and picturesque cities, towns and villages as well as its nature and tranquil country side.

Lublin at night.
Lublin at night.

Lublin is a big City in the East of Poland with approximately 100.000 students. The city has many big universities.

In Lublin lives "Woody" with his owner Ewa Ostapczuk and her family as well as with Vicky half-brother "Winterbourne Dark Moon Rising", who is called Nattan.

Especially at night the old city of Lublin is very picturesque. I have enjoyed several walks in the evening. Many people are enjoying the city at night, certainly not only because of its scenic but also because of the good restaurants.

One day we made a sightseeing tour to the city of Kazmierz, located at the River Vistula.

Kazmierz got its name from "Kasimir the Great" who founded the place in 1335. In more recent years the town got famous as many scenes of the movie "Schindlers list" played in Kazimierz, although the acutal Ghetto Podgorze is located on the other side of the River Vistula.

Kazimierz is also known for a yeast pastry in the form of a rooster.

As this litter is a K-litter, maybe the founder "Kasimir the Great" will be name giver to one of the male puppies...

Not only in the church of Kasimierz you will find a Portrait of the second to last Pope John Paul II. I have seen many photos and Portraits of him at churches and other official buildings in the country.

I took many walks with Vicky in the area of Lublin. As it has been quite hot our walks could not be too long. Nevertheless we enjoyed them very much.

When you are a few miles away from Lublin country life seems to be very pristine.

There are still a number of smaller farms existing, the fields are usually a lot smaller than here and it is still possible to find some tranquility at the country side.

The journey to Lublin has been very nice! We hope now, that there will be some results in the near future and that we will have a nice litter of this wonderful and rare breed of Field Spaniels.

My special thanks go to Ewa Ostapczuk and her family for the great hospitality I enjoyed. But nonetheless I want to thank you Iwona Slawinska for actively supporting us in the actual reason of our journey.  My thanks goes also to Slawek Slawinski and Iwona Guz Nontiscordardime, who is not on this photo, for the time they spent with me in Lublin and their support. It is always nice to meet and get to know dog people from around the world and have a talk with them. You all made my time in Lublin very special! Thank you!

Only a few weeks ago "our" little Jule "Deb's Cortina" got her second German title "German Champion (Club)".

Today reached us the incredible News from Svenja Arendt that Jule won at the International Show in Genk, Belgium the CAC and CACIB. She is now "Ambriorix-Winner 2015" and she fulfilled the requirements for the "International Show Champion" (C.I.E.). We are very happy! Big congratulations, Svenja and Jule!

Today we had lots of fun evaluating the puppies with our friend Claudia. She is judge for Pointer and Setters.

You can find photos of each puppy at the German Site of the J-litter.

Yesterday I took also a Seminar "Introduction into photography", learning the basics of photography and about my new camera. Still a lot to learn, but very helpful!

06.05.2015

Last week it was time for some training again. I joined a seminar which is acknowledged by the academy of the German Kennel Club held by Prof. Dr. Helga Eichelberg on "Genetics and Breeding Strategies". It has been worth the time and money invested! It is always good to get new ideas and information.

As the pups are getting older, the puppy buyers are coming for a first visit one after the other. Of course they get a good cup of coffee or tea.

In our garden the flowers are blooming more and more, but also during the walks in the forest there is a lot to behold.

Today we had again Dummy Training. Claudia Bruhn was visiting our training group and took some really great photos.

Vicky is getting better and better in training. Now it is a joy to work with her. She has changed a lot and is able to concentrate a lot more. Beside this, she just loves the training.

Our little one, Ilse, is also enjoying herself and doing a good job. I have to fine tune a few things with her...so still some training required before I will show her at her first Dummy test.

Today the owner of "Pappilion de Nuit vom Schloß Hellenstein", also known as Jasper, gave me this nice persent when she came to the grooming appointment. Thank you, Mrs. Kanning!

This weekend has been quite successful for the litter sisters Imke (Yola) and Ilse vom Belauer See. One has shown that she is a good Working Spaniel and the other has shown that she is a little Beauty Queen, which doesn't mean that Ilse cannot work. She is also very diligent in working with Dummys as is her sister Imke.

Imke (Yola) started together with her owner and trainer Hanna Schöpper at a Working Test for Retriever in Sopron, Hungary. She was placed in her class 5th with "very good" out of 20 starters. That is a great result! Very well done, Yola and Hanna!

Her sister Ilse started at the Special Breed Show in Giessen, Germany, for the first time in Intermediate Class und judge Rosemarie Wild from Switzerland. She won her Class with Excellent 1 and got her first adult CAC VDH for the title "German Champion (VDH)". The video was done by Thomas Hill. Thank you that you allowed me to publish it!

This Sunday "Deb's Cortina" won at International Show in Groningen, Netherlands, under judge Dhr. A. Kelly, Ireland, Champion Class got the CAC and CACIB and was BOB! Congratulations to Svenja Arendt, very well done!

We didn't expect when we imported our "Gotland-Sheep" almost 5 years ago that she will be so successful one day at Dog Shows. Okay, we hoped it!

With Vicky and Ilse I continue with Dummy-Training. Ilse is more of a natural retriever. But Vicky is also doing some progress in her training and it is really nice to work with her.

Lotta has been mated 3 weeks ago. I won't do an ultrasound with her. I just save her an extra visit at the Vets. But if I am right we will have Springer puppies in April.

Lotta "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" has been mated to Musse "Sanque's Dreamchaser" in Sweden. You will find more information on the combination on the website of the J-litter.

It was nice to see Ingrid Svensson, breeder of Musse, again and to get to know the owner of Musse. Thanks a lot to Jens Karlsson, Kennel Art-Waves for his hospitality and the good talks over a glas of wine and delicious food! By the way Jens has currently a really good English Cocker Spaniel litter from an interesting combination. You can read more about the litter here. Have a look at "Kull II".

Since almost a week we had also Winterwonderland in the North of Germany. Unfortunately it seems that it will be over soon and will leave us with "Kurt" again.

Today we enjoyed our walk with the dogs in the forest. And they had lots of fun in the snow! Especially Vicky and Clark love the snow and roll around in it. After the walk we enjoyed a hot tea and the warm fireplace...

...and this is a video of yesterdays event. It shows Svenja Arendt handling Jule "Deb's Cortina" at the Rally Obedience Contest in Beginner Class. Jule got 99/100 Points and a respectable 3rd place of more than 20 Starters. Congratulations! Well done! The video is from Svenja Arendt.

Isn't this a very nice Christmas present I got from Svenja, the owner of our Jule? It is a nice Dummy bag which will certainly used a lot this year!

Today I went to a Rally-Obedience contest. I wanted to check-out if this could be a Sport for my Dogs and myself in addition to the Dummy-Work. I think we will get started...

02.01.2015

We wish all our friends and puppy buyers a Happy New Year! May 2015 be a year for you full of happiness and success and lots of joy with your Spaniels!

It is now 8 years ago that our "Clark" was born. Hard to believe that he is now a veteran! He is still very active and always up to some nonsense.

Our breeding plans are getting more and more concrete. I have decided which male to use for the Springer litter. And as it seems that Vicky, the Field Spaniel, is getting rather earlier than later into season the issue is basically also settled for the Field litter. Please visit us in the English section of the website under "planned litters".
