It is time for an update! Already on June 18th we have take the puppy photo shooting and evaluation. This time a little earlier due to the full schedule of our friend Claudia who is good at stacking the puppies.

Here the outcome...

Puppy born first was a bitch. Her name is now Rita.

The second puppy born was also a bitch. Her name is Roswitha.

Roswitha is currently the smallest bitch puppy. But that doesn't mean that she is timid or hesitant, not at all! She is a tough little princess.

Third puppy born was our only boy Rudolph.

Yes, I thought of "Rudolph the red nosed Reindeer" when naming him!

He is a really nice boy. I think he has definitely show potential.

Renate is the third girl born.

She is a rather active girl. I can imagine her in an active home, even with dog sports or hunting.

Rosemarie is last but not least. She is the fourth bitch born.

Rosemarie will be called Rose.

In the German version of this website I have explained also the meaning of all the names. And for some I found even some songs. If you would like to listen to them, you will find them here.

The time has come for the puppies to move out of their puppy room in the house.

Now they have more space at the dog house with adjoining run. They are exploring everything in and outside.

They are quite fearless. I think one of the cutest times of a litter...

3 1/2 weeks have passed very quickly.

Meanwhile the little munchkins are up on their feet and they have learnt to howl! And how they can howl!!! They have already really loud voices.

This little one has become quite tired while being outside the whelping box and the small run. Daddy had prepared the bed fresh and cleaned all the mess up...

Meanwhile the puppies have opened there eyes and started to eat minced meat of beef, kind of the most of expensive you can get. They have quite a good appetite.

Since they have opened their ears and figured out that they have voices, they love to bark. It is too cute.

With the letter of this litter we could go back to our tradition to give the puppies old names. Their pedigree names are now Rudolph, Renate, Rita, Rosemarie and Roswitha.

The puppies have done some great steps last few days. They opened their eyes and they started to move around the whelping box.

Following a few insights into the whelping box I have taken the last three days (Photos and video copyright Ulf F. Baumann).

The puppies are quite chunky at the age of 8 days. They have already doubled their weight at birth.

The photos were taken on May 16th.

The puppies are three days old and developing nicely.

They have already gained a bit of weight. With only five puppies Ilse has more than enough milk.

When everything with the birth and in the first days is going well, this is a relaxed time for the breeder. The puppies are sleeping, drinking and at the moment Mum is doing all the work.

The first puppy was born right after midnight at 0.30 am.

It is a girl with interesting spots.

Bitch 2 was born right after her sister. It took her only 12 minutes to follow her.

At the moment her bliss looks like a little heart.

Puppy number 3 born was the only boy of this litter.

The bitch puppies born last, bitch number 3 and 4 look kind of similar. At first I thought that the marking of 3 is really easy to remember. She has a bigger spot on her left shoulder.

Later I realized that number 4 has also a spot there. But when you have a close look, there are other things to identify each.

Following there is a short video. The puppies were just awake and were hungry, fighting for the best place at the milk bar.

Our R-litter has arrived.

We have one boy and four girls. They were born in the early morning hours between 0.30 a.m. and 4.00 am.

Ilse did a great job and the puppies are doing well.

Ilse is doing great. She is getting rounder every day. The puppies are due around May 10th.

"Ilse vom Belauer See" has been mated on March 3rd by "Art-Wave's Cash In Hand".

I met Cash last year at the Club Show of the Swedish Springer Klubben and fell in love with him. He is a typical Springer with the right temperament and excellent Springer movement.

Certainly one reason why he was placed second in Class at this years Crufts in Birmingham. He has been altogether quite successful at Shows despite his young age.

Ilse is a natural retriever, a trait she has give to already to her offspring. She has offspring which has been trained and tested successfully for hunting. On Cash's side there are also dogs in the pedigree which are used for hunting. That might be interesting for puppy buyers who are interested to do dogs sports or going for hunting.

If all goes well, we hope for puppies around May 10th.
