At one point you always have to say "Good bye"!. This weekend we had to let our puppies go. Our L-puppies have moved to their new forever-homes.

Shortly before the first puppy left us we took our traditional farewell-photo. As usual it has not the been the easiest task to have the puppies sit still on the garden bench.

This weekend Ludwig has been the puppy who left us first. But he also has been as the first born the big brother to his siblings.

Ludwig will be called Gimli. At his new home he will live together with two big Brothers, two Gordon Setters.

Ludwig will be trained for hunting and will be shown. I am looking forward to his future developement!

Lieselotte won't move that far away. She will live in Meddewade near Bad Oldesloe, a 45 Minute drive from our place.

Lieselotte will live with two other dogs, a mix of German Whired Hair Pointer and Frieda, an English Cocker Spaniel .

Lieselotte, called Yola, will be trained in Dummy work and will be shown. I am very glad that I found a nice family who will co-own her. I have been very pleased about the litter and I am very happy about the prospect of having a litter after her.

Lieselotte got already her own page, you will be able to read more about her at "Lieselotte vom Belauer See".

Our little Leonore will be called Leni, now. She moved to the coast of the North Sea in the North West of Germany. She lives with a big family of seven on a farm. There are also two other dogs, a Golden Retriever and a small mix.

Leonore will be trained for hunting and will support the Golden Retriever.

Luise lives now with a 10 year old English Springer Lady  Whoopie and her owner in Cologne.

Luise has been long awaited! She will be trained in hunting and will be shown. Dummy training and Rally Obedience is also on her list. I am sure we will hear a lot about her in future.

Luise has already together with her friend Whoopie her own Website.

Yesterday Ludwig had a visit from his new owners. Sometimes there are puppies who seem that they want to very specific people!

Two times Ludwig has not been taken because of a sudden illnes. Now he moves to a really great home! As I only had one male in this litter and didn't know how this only male will develop, I had told his new owners that they have to wait on another litter. Now he has developed into a very promising little guy! We are looking very much forward to seeing, how he will develop.

The photos have been taken by his new owner during the visit! Many thanks for them!

Puppies have moved since quite a while to the dog house. The fireplace with wooden Pellets is warming the big room really nice. The puppies have it warm inside so that they also can play outside the dog house.

Tomorrow the puppies will turn eight weeks. Following are some photos of the little cuties playing outside.

Last weekend our puppies had lots of visitors! We also took photos of the puppies and evaluated them together with our friend Claudia.

Saturday our new Pellet fire place in the dog house didn't work anylonger properly. Because of this we had to move the puppies back to the puppy room in our house. Luckily we were able to replace the fire place on Sunday morning. Now the puppies can stay during the day outside.

As usual I will introduce the puppies as they have been born. I am not really happy with the results of the photos. I still need more practise in using the flash.

Lieselotte has been number 2 in the litter. For a long time she was laying or rather resting between her siblings as the big, black puppy. She drank and drank and drank and grew up.

Meanwhile the difference between the puppies is not as big as before.

Lieselotte seems to be a bit strong willed. She was absolutely not willing to be put into the stand for a good photo. Even not one time!

We had almost given up, when Claudia suggested to try it with her at another spot.

And this worked out beautifully! Well done, Claudia!

Puppy number 3 is our little  Lenore.

At the Moment Leonore is the smallest puppy of the litter. But she is a real Sweetheart!

Puppy number 4 at birth was Luise.

Luise is the puppy with the most white color. She is very outgoing and not afraid of anything.

Of course there is also a photo of Luise in the stand.

I have been a few days on the road with Ilse. The reason for this trip is explained under M-litter.

When I came back home that puppies had done quite a big step. More and more they eat by themselves. Sometimes the Milk bar of their Mum is still open.

The following pics give a good impression of their development.

Just before the puppies had to move out of their puppy stall. I needed to do a bit of cleaning.

Immediately they tried to check out things in the room, testing their teeth at the cables. Luckily they still have small teeth!

They also start to eat by themselves. The puppies enjoy especially meat balls and "puppy mix".

Next week we will try to take photos in the stand.

We have expanded the whelping box, so that the puppies have more space to play.

They also start with potty training and some do already a pretty good job, leaving their whelping box using the newspapers outside...

Puppies are developing fast. They start to play with each other and also with toys.

This video has been taped today as well.

That is the way, our puppies spent New Years Eve!

Meanwhile they had their first, small little balls of minced meat. They definately think they are yummy!

Our puppies are now two weeks old and they start to open their eyes.

This is always a fun time with the little ones I think. They start to walk, sometimes they look already very sure about themselves and then they drop again and fall amongst the siblings.

They start to growl, bark and yesterday the first ones already looked out of the whelping box and seemed to be really interested in the outside world!

The short videos and photos (Copyright Ulf F. Baumann) will give you an idea what we experience with them.

Lotta is still taking good care of her puppies. Cleaning and feeding them, although I think that she will be very glad when her little ones will start to take their own food.

Now it is really time to introduce the puppies of our L-litter.

The first one born was a liver-white male. We call him Ludwig. He was just a little heavier than one of his sisters and with 415 g he has been the biggest puppy at birth.

All the bitches born are black-white. They have not been named yet, we only chose the names already.

The second puppy came only 13 minutes after the first. This bitch puppy had 403 g at birth.

Third puppy born was again a bitch puppy. She came 30 minutes after the second one.

Her weight was exact the same as that of the first bitch - she had 403 g.

Bitch puppy number 3 is also black-white and busy as a bee.

She topped her sister number one and took one minute less than her sister to follow the previous puppy at birth. She came only 12 minutes behind bitch puppy number 2.

Her weight was only 2 g less than her brothers. She had 413 g at birth.

The last puppy arrived after another 2 hours. It was a liver-white male, whom we called Leopold. Unfortunately Leopold left us after a day here on earth.

When you have two puppies laying in the whelping box tightly entangled and sound asleep, you start watching them closely.

Today I wondered how it may look like to photograph just pieces of them...

In the next few days I will introduce the puppies seperately - I promise!

17.12.2016

Today Ludwig was trying to climb up his Mum. It took him quite a few minutes trying to get on top of her...

"Hm, maybe it is quite cosy up there? I will try to get up there..."

It didn't really work "I think I better use my right leg instead of the left one....that must work!"

"Damn, I just cannot get where I want! But giving up is no option..." It seemed that Ludwig was thinking that way. He tried it quite a long time very persistent. I guess he will have a great character!

17.12.2016

Unfortunately we had to say "Good bye" to one of our boys, Leopold. He left us yesterday evening and is now in "dog`s heaven".

In the early morning hours of December 15th Lotta "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" gave birth to Ludwig, Leopold, Leonore, Lieselotte and Luise after Thorn "Calvdale Night Court".

The two boys are liver-white, the three girls are black-white. This time Lotta took her time, she gave birth on day 66!

As usual I will give at this place frequently an update on the development of the puppies. Here are the first photos of the litter box (all photos Ulf F. Baumann):

14.11.2016

Lotta has been mated five weeks ago. She is doing really well and cannot hide anylonger that she will have puppies in December.

08. - 15.10.2016

For a bit more than a week I have been on the road with Lotta to have her mated in Yorkshire, England.

Lotta was again on time in season, it has been very easy to plan the journey to England. Lotta is very reliable!

This time it took me quite a while which male I will choose for her. I chose a male from Kennel "Calvdale" in Yorkshire. Nicola Calvert, the breeder of the "Calvdales" is breeding English Springer Spaniels since 40 years and has a lot of experience. From my perception Nicola Calvert is not following every present-day wave in the breeding what I personally appreciate. So far I had good experiences with the Calvdale lines. That is the reason why I decided to go into this direction. I like the type Nicola Calvert is breeding very much.

This time my choice is "JW SHCM Calvdale Night Court", whose pet name is Thorn.

Thorn is a lovely male with a very friendly disposition. He has been already quite successful at Shows. He needs one more ticket to be Show Champion. But this was certainly not the reason why I chose him. I have been able to see also some really good offspring of him which convinced me. I think he has a really good front which is even better in real life than on the photos. But let me introduce Thorn to you:

The Calvdale dogs have convinced me already years ago by their type. I love most of their heads and expression. I think they have beautiful heads. In the end the type of a dog is very much influenced by the head.

It seemed that Lotta again liked my choice. We are hoping now for puppies around December 12th, 2016.

At this point I would like to introduce the other very important half of this mating:

Mother of the L- litter will be our Lotta.

Out of this mating I hope for offspring which is not only according to the breed standard but will be also interesting for puppy buyers into dogs sports or hunting. Lotta has already Champion offspring which has been very successful in the Show ring as well as in dog sports and at hunting trials.

In case you are interested in a puppy out of this promising mating, please don't hesitate to contact me.
